The Bridesmaid Dress Guide For Every Budget

Last year so many weddings were postponed due to the Pandemic, including my sister’s that had to wait to celebrate this year, her union with the man of her dreams. She threw a beautiful religious ceremony in the gardens of Cedar Hill Golf & Country Club and everything was flawless. The food was amazing and catered by a local restaurant called Tushar that also made one of the most delicious Brazilian desserts served at the party, mousse de Maracuja which is Portuguese to Passion Fruit mousse.   

Being the Maid of Honor created quite a dilemma for me, as I had no idea what to wear? I found out that buying a modest bridesmaid’s dress isn’t an easy task. So I spent a couple of months exploring every option online that would fit my budget and of course my taste. I decided to write a series of wedding-based posts that will include bridesmaid dresses, guests attire, bridal and flower girl dresses. You can expect a vast cover of the subject wedding and I am very excited about it.

Starting this series, I brought to you today a few of the most beautiful Bridesmaids dresses that won’t break the bank. That said, I want to share a little about the gorgeous dress that I managed to find in a local store at Village Garden (a small shopping outlet in my city) called Bodal Bridal. This store actually was a lifesaver as I had two weeks before my sister’s event, to find a dress that would match the other maid of honor’s dresses. I had also worked with another site —  MIA BELLA COUTURE STORE —  and their customer service lacks lots to be desired. I do not recommend their services.

Luckily for me (literally), they were very incompetent, and with only one week away from the wedding, they still hadn’t shipped my order. I decided to cancel with them, which also caused me a lot of stress and then I went on an adventure (to the aforementioned shopping center) to find a reasonably modest dress in the right color, as well as to attempt to stay within budget.

It really became apparent to me that finding a modest dress made of good quality and is at an affordable price wouldn’t be easy. They are a really difficult combination to put together when it comes to bridesmaid dresses. After a quick prayer to God (seriously) I found this glamorous dress that is so well made and also has a great dose of elegance, which reminded me of the ’50s. 

This draped dress is full of details that impressed me. Starting with the off-shoulder feature that combined with the sweetheart neckline, spaghetti straps, and a super-wide A-line silhouette, this bridesmaid attire is a perfect choice. 

The dress is fully lined and it features a back cross strap and sewn satin belt, plus a push-up feature on the chest. Although it’s not as modest as I was looking for, it still covers a lot of skin and cost me half of the price of the first dress that I canceled. Honestly, after personally seeing the poor quality of the other maid-of-honor’s dress, I feel grateful that it didn’t work out, considering that it had too many openings such as a huge slit and a very revealing neckline.

If you like my dress, I need to point out that it’s not listed on the store’s website which displays only bride dresses, so you’d probably want to contact the store directly, to arrange a view of the dress. Another important thing to take into consideration is if you are short like me you will certainly need a seamstress to alter the hem to a comfortable length. Also, you may want to use a slightly larger size, as the satin belt on the waist is a little tight. I usually wear a small size, but I used a Medium for the reason mentioned above with this dress.
