Skincare Regimen – Correct Order To Apply Products FAQ
1 // What is a basic skincare regimen?
Always apply skin-care products in order of consistency from thinnest to thickest.
I regularly follow these main steps:
Cleansing — wash your face twice a day (morning and night).
Toning — Balances the skin and helps products to be absorbed by your skin.
Serum-Vitam C during the day and retinol at night.
Moisturizing — Hydrating and softening the skin.

2 // How often should I wash my face?
I like to wash my skin twice a day. One in the morning, and another time in the night before going to bed.
3 // How often should I exfoliate my skin?
Any formula that cleanses your skin without stripping it. Just keep in mind that you should exfoliate only once a week to avoid breaking down the essential and healthy oils that your skin produces naturally.
4 // How to find out what’s the best facial cleanser?
Below you have an infographic that will help you to find the best cleanser in accordance with your skin type. I hope that helps!

5 // What should I look for when buying a toner?
Today’s toners are designed to deliver some extra shot of nutrients to the skin. Unlike older versions, that were too harsh on the skin and alcohol-based, toners today help other products in your regimen to absorb better while balancing your complexion.

You should always look for these ingredients below when buying a toner:
Alpha and beta hydroxy acids: It gently removes dead skin cells that can clog your pores. This ingredient does amazing things when it comes to improving sun-damage while minimizing dullness.
Hyaluronic acid: This is my favorite ingredient when talking about skincare. I always look for it in every product I want to try on my skin. It boosts hydration and treats fine lines very well!
Rosewater and green tea: This calms irritation and reduces redness and it has anti-inflammatory properties, perfect for skin with acne and fair skin as well.

6 // How to use Toners?
Toner should be used after cleansing and before putting anything else on your skin. Avoid using a cotton pad because by doing that you will end up losing a lot of product. Instead, apply the product with clean hands by just putting a few drops on your palm and wipe it onto your skin.
Tip: Most formulas can be used morning and night. However, make sure that those with exfoliating acids are used only at night or every other day.

7 // I don’t have any major issue with my skin what type of serum should I use in my Skincare Regimen?
Whether you have a specific issue or not you still need a general antioxidant serum in the morning to protect your skin from daily aggressors. Below you will find some that handle specific issues and at the same time good for anyone:

Hyaluronic acid: Seals in hydration and strengthens the top layer of your skin, which prevents moisture loss.
Vitam C: Helps to brighten up dull skin and decreases dark spots with continuous use.
Retinol, vitamin B3, peptides: Stimulates the production of elastin and collagen, which helps to prevent lines and skin sagging.
Colloidal sulfur, niacinamide: If you have problems with redness and irritation, this is your go-to product as it decreases inflammation and removes acne since it has antimicrobial properties.

If you have different problems or concerns about your skin you will probably need to use multiple serums. Considering that, I would recommend treating different areas with different formulas. You just need to put a VIT-C serum all over your face and dab on other types of serums. Another important tip to consider is never trying mixing a serum into your moisturizer. I confess I have done that before to save me time but I learned the hard way that every product should be applied one by one.

Also, when it comes to serums, we tend to believe that all of them are for daily use. This is a misconception. In fact, the use of serum varies with its ingredients. For example, I use antioxidants in the morning as they are good to protect your skin from the environment. While the retinol types will degenerate when applied during the day. That’s why is so important to read the instructions of every product.
8// How to pick a good moisturizer for my Skincare Regimen?
The main purpose of moisturizers is to prevent water loss on the outer layers of your skin. As we age our skin naturally loses its ability to retain moisture. I always look for the type of moisturizer that contains ceramides, because it increases hydration, giving you a smoother and firmer-feeling skin. It’s good for all types of skin even dry and sensitive type, like mine or breakout-prone or oily skin.

9 // What’s the difference between a day and a night cream?
Creams that are for morning use are designed to protect your skin from environmental aggressors. Many of them contain antioxidants to minimize pollution effects and have sunscreen to shield your complexion from ultraviolet radiation. Night creams, on the other hand, focus on repair damage. They contain retinol which naturally dips in the evening and it has a thicker texture.
10// What is the best eye cream for undereye bags and inflammation?
Caffeine-based products, peptides, and hyaluronic acid are your best friends when it comes to baggy eye-lids. If you have dark circles, there is a great chance that this problem is caused by visible veins or discoloration. Therefore look for brightening ingredients such as Vitamin C, Kojic acid and niacinamide.

11// There are so many options for face masks. Can you explain the difference?
Sheet Mask – They are primarily for hydration. I recommend keeping them in the fridge to get an anti-inflammatory benefit.
Overnight Masks – They have a thicker texture. They are good for mature skin or severely dry skin.
Mud Masks – This type of mask absorbs oil and has a mild exfoliating effect. So they are perfect for oily areas. Have in mind that you don’t need to put it on your whole face, instead, you can target just the areas that you most need.
A great tip is to apply masks after serum and before moisturizer (unless it’s a leave-on type) as it can take the place of your night moisturizer. Use masks no more than once a week in order to prevent irritation.

12// Do I need some type of special tools to create a skincare regimen?
Not really. Even a washcloth (100% cotton) can do the job of cleansing your skin. You just have to use a fresh washcloth every day to avoid bacteria.
13// What tools should I buy for a skincare regimen?
If you want me to point you to some of my favorites, when it comes to skincare tools, I will suggest 2 products that I think are amazing.
Sonic cleaning // It emits pulsations that remove impurities stored in your pores. It’s under $150. If you want something a little more affordable you can check this one here that is under $100 and this amazing one here that costs only $24.99
Led Light Therapy // This device it’s under $300 and comes with three lights that you must use in accordance to your skin needs. Switch on red to stimulate collagen and elastin production while decreasing possible inflammation. If you want to eliminate acne-causing bacteria and redness you should turn on the blue light. The yellow light will work on the evening your skin. I have linked here a dupe of it.
14// What Can I Do When My Skin Gets Irritated?
- Run cold water over your wrists in order to lower your internal temperature.
- Apply an oatmeal mask – Mix a few spoons of dried oats with a little bit of water and spread it all over your face and let it sit until it dries and then rinse it.
- Use chilled green tea as a rinse. The polyphenol in tea has an immediate soothing effect.
- Eat healthily and live well- Diet has proved effects on our skin for the good or for the bad. Avoid alcohol, coffee, and fried foods. Instead eat more fatty fish, avocados, walnuts, sunflower seeds, sweet potatoes, broccoli, etc
