Father’s Day Weekend Celebration With Friends

I wasn’t quite sure what I would do to celebrate my husband’s fatherhood until couple days ago when I came up with some ideas to fill up the whole weekend with activities on a budget. Fortunately, Summer brings to Salt Lake not only a good energy that inspires  you to live every little moment in your life with gratitude but, also lots of family friendly events.

We are a family that appreciates experience over things and that’s why I though of doing something where we could spend as much time together as possible. My husband is really that kind of man when asked :” what do you want for father’day ?”wWould come with the classic answer : ” I don’t need anything.” But, who doesn’t need fun?- “I dont need a happy moment with my loved ones” – said nobody. I create then a schedule of activities so we could enjoy this bright summer weekend.

Friday was pretty simple at some parts or a least theoretically. The first day of celebration was to welcome daddy from work with cookies and handmade cards. Well, despite all the risk of having a little monkey spreading paint all over my house, this went very smooth and I had no problems, other than having to make the cards twice as Marie’s hand print and footprint didn’t get very well on the paper.

    A Swiss-Bavarian Vibe in Utah

I was very surprised to find out that here in Utah we have a Swiss/German-Bavarian influence right in Heber-Midway, south of Park City. The architecture of the buildings there will make you feel as if you were in the middle of the Oktoberfest and you are about to spot someone walking down the street dressed up with those traditional Bavarian Tracht. I guess, if you really wanna see that you will have to wait until the Midway Swiss Days Festival, on Sep 1-2, 2017.

All the buildings are impressive and cute as doll’s houses and you won’t be disappointed if you want to take beautiful pictures with your family..

Well, our first stop was at the Zermatt resort and you can find some great room’s deals right here on Expedia. The hotel is super cute and it has a giant chess game at the little plaza in front of its entrance. Marie, of course, had a blast playing with the pieces that were not much smaller than her. At the same location you can find an interesting post that carries several arrows signs pointing the direction of different countries and their distance to Heber-Midway.

    Summer Unplugged

A perfect moment for me is when I get to spend time with my baby and husband. I stop anything I am doing just to share with them any fraction of time. Saturday is therefore, our weekly date day as my hubby has some time off . We are always doing something around the city. Salt Lake City summer is like Phoenix, reborn from the ashes of a boring cold season to blossom full of life.

Events, free or paid, children friendly or not, pops up in every corner of the state. If you just need a cool place to relax or to enjoy the weather, without paying a dime, this is also possible. Salt Lake City is full of good places to hang out with your family or friends. An example of this is the Herriman Reservoir. The place is not very big, the reservoir is kind of small and the water is not very warm. However, the reservoir is very well maintained and it has a good infrastructure like bathrooms, small pavilions and also, some grass areas.

    Splash Pad Fun!

I love those days where it’s not too hot, not too cold, and we can pack up the stroller with some swimsuits, snacks, sunscreen and toys for the day and just head out! Today I took Marie to a Splash Pad Park and she just loved it. She laughed out loud the whole time. I am now starting to try to take her out more often and let her enjoy as much as she can near where we live. It’s almost as if our whole little city was our backyard. Marie, of course was so incredibly happy for just being there, that she was obstinate to go home.
